slime, slither, and fangs
Posted By: foxglove, 07-28-2009, 12:40 PM

Recently I've (1) had time to do some shooting, (2) got around to choosing some "keepers", and (3) put them on Pbase. So now I'll inflict them on you folks to critique and perhaps even enjoy!

First, some slime - a funky little snail being quite aquatic, although I'm pretty sure it's the same kind I see all over the garden.
Here it is crawling across some fallen equisetum stems:

And a little closer up, rearing up to eat a rare duckweed that happens to be incredibly common in our backyard pond:

Now the slithery snake - it's living in a falling-apart composter that I now don't dare get rid of. Last time I checked there were two red-bellied snakes (they eat slugs!) and a mid-size garter. This is the garter:

When I zoomed in, I noticed the snake had a hitch-hiker:

Finally some fangs - a tiny little jumping spider.

As always, comments, critique, suggestions, all welcome.

Great series, and although the subjects are so different, they fit well together in a way... Wel done!

Thanks - I was pleased at how the internal structure of the shell showed up.

Glad they hang together - basically it's a collection of creepy stuff that lives in my back yard...

Thanks! I was happy with the results, but it's nice when a few people agree...
