Help with my choice for a challenge
Posted By: K McCall, 07-29-2009, 06:44 PM

Hi, all,

I hate to bring up the "other" forum, but dpreview is having a Pentax-only challenge this week where we have to show
QuoteQuote:
your skills capturing fast moving things. Trains, planes, cars, animals, people - it's your call, but make sure that the subject is razor sharp.

This is not my kind of photography, but I feel like I have to enter something, so I have the following. Which one do you like best? You don't have to say why. Also, not all technically adhere to the challenge rules (it specifies minimal post-processing) but I can re-process any of them so they fit.

Thanks for looking and voting!

1. Chasing Butterflies

2. Crane

3. Take Off

4. Bumblebee

Keitha,
This is terrible.

Everyone knows that you do these great landscapes and incredibly personal self-portraits. Now it comes out that you do action as well! I believe that any one of the choices will work well for the challenge, though it was #3 that truly caught my eye.

Good work for all four!

Steve

(And now you are going to tell me that you used manual focus for all four...)

hard choice between 1 and 3 but I think for the challenge the sharpness of the third pic makes it the winner of the two

#4 is the bee's knees

But #1 is my all-around choice of the mount I would purchase and hang if I could afford only one.

I confess Keitha, after i voted i thought i gotta give this one a go as well.

I am incented to see their comment about pentax users not being able to take photos of moving objects.

I hope others will give it a go as well.

Good stuff.
Cheers NEil

Something about number 2 and 3 that gives me that wow feeling. I stare at it and it just feels so beautiful. I really like number 3.

Clearly, "take off". Seeing the dust/dirt/specs kicked up makes the picture for me.

Hmmn, this is tough, they're all great. Are these the sizes that you'll be submitting? If so, I'll say 3 first, then 2, then 4, and finally 1.

I was gonna say #2 because it's such a gorgeous image, well processed and I dig the crop.
Emotional response aside though (and I think #2 would be wasted on that challenge), I think the pigeon would be the one to submit, the water droplets add a little something.

Gary expressed my thoughts more eloquently than I could!
