these are rather uninspiring

there is almost no contex, you are obviously going for the "cool car, rough surrounding" style, but you dont actually capture the surrounding descolace, nor the huge body of water, only the yellow wet dirt.

the angles are generic and reminiscent of someone with a p&s doing his thing, with the exception of the very last photo, i can "feel" where you are standing, and you are standing very close to the car, where are the telephoto shots?

there is no movement, no feeling.

this is supposed to be a "set", but it does not tell any story, other than that you got a burgandy 4 door 3 series, and you dont care whether its dirty or not....

gooshin thank you!

Im NOT being sacastic!
I mean it!

I was trying to keep close to car as too many other cars around.....
and I should have got more of the water!

The car was clean before we got there but my friend drove in too fast and splashed the car!
she is bit of a speed freak!

This was NOT our intended shoot site!
was intending to go near a beach, but there was a surfing contest thing going on!

probably not gonna help gooshin, but I can only get better?

the last one is what i'm talking about, now you're entering into the more conventional car poses pleasing to the eye

minus the over exposure ofcourse

=======================================================
while i'm no expert on car photography, i'm just saying what i like and dont like

but here are some snapshots of cars that i have done when given the chance:

===========================================================

also, i feel its OKAY to involve the owner of the car in the photo

The first two black and whites are ace!

yeah over exposed as had it on auto!
oooops!

I like close up shots more than full cars as it depicts the detail!
I got really got feedback from the BMW owner, she loved them!
as long as she was happy then I for filled the task....

Ordered some wifi flash triggers as some friends said it lacks highlights and looks flat.
I appreciate your feedback!

closeups are fine

but i see you have a 50-200 at your disposal

should have given that a try

your close up shots are done at less than 50mm (atlesat the ones that have exif info), you can SEE that, because the perspective is such that depicts you being close to the vehicle

you said there were other cars around, but this should not have been a problem to zoom in with a tele.

I was using 18-55mm with the K100D either 50-200 or 18-55 on the K-m, but cant remember!

the prolem was the owner wanted rear shots looking down side of car and the cars where all around the front of her BMW, she shoule have parked with nose or tail facing the sea!

nose would be good as the is a drop to a lower gravel beach and could have got some good, really low shots of the nose!

then here is your next lesson

the client is your bitch, they are paying you money, and they think you know everything. If you tell her to move the car, she will move the car.

If she doesnt move the car, convince her, tell her "the pictures will look even better if you do this"
