Rushed the shot damn it, BIF scores a 2 on 1-10 scale
Posted By: imtheguy, 08-01-2009, 12:28 AM

Sometimes its fun to post the pics of the ones you agonize over. So close but despite the effort, little to show. I wanted a good passing shot of a Great Blue having not seen one in a couple weeks. After walking the river banks for a while suddenly with a great squawk one jumps up and flies down the canal in front of me. All i have to do is get out from under the trees in time.....and I didnt. Rushed the shot, pilings behind him, leaves in front, no other shots in focus, no other blues seen that day. Where is that pool that photogs are supposed to be hanging out in from 10-3pm?

I'd give it at least a 4. The bird is quite sharp; shame about the leaves getting in the way.

Nice job panning, I'm sure you want to go back now and try for the perfect shot. I wish I had a nickel for all my shots that got ruined by a tree.

If that shot is a 2, then my BIF scores would be listed in negative numbers.

I like it as it is - the sense of motion and power is palpable.

Now if only I could get a shot like that I would be happy. damn birds know I am coming and fly away as I leave my house. that bird is sharp and I like the action implied in the shot.

Thanks for the views and compliments in spite of my crappy planning on this one.

Harumph... why didn't you cut the tree down before taking the photo?

Other than those inconsiderate leaves, it is a lovely photo.
