The first Monday in August is the official commemoration of Colorado Day and no one really notices anything other than the state parks are free. I took advantage of it to go up to Eldorado Canyon State Park just south of Boulder.

Pentax K10D, Sigma 17-70, Cokin Circular Polarizer, ISO 100 1/45 f/8 17mm

I think the portrait framing works well to emphazize the rocks. Did you try one from an even lower angle?

The creek bank drops off pretty sharply just to the left of where I was so I didn't want to put the K10's seals to that much of a test. Further up or down the creek there are picnic areas and kayakers who just would not stay out of the frame.
