365 Self-Portraits: Week Five
Posted By: K McCall, 08-05-2009, 02:47 PM

I didn't realize until today (day 36) that I somehow didn't realize yesterday that 35 is a multiple of 7

A little background: I chose to do a self-portrait project about 2 months after getting my first DSLR, a K100D, to help me improve my camera and post-processing skills and to force myself to use my camera every day. I'm sure there are subconscious reasons in there as well, but basically at the time I lived alone and had no children or pets or anything else to practice on, and a couple of my friends had joined a group on flickr that was just for this project. So for two years now, I've taken a self-portrait every day. I just finished year two on June 30th. I decided to do a third year, but this time I'm trying to do a "matching" shot for each day. Ideally either the subject matter or the mood or the processing or the place or the contours of the composition match the self-portrait. I'm also playing around with my lenses to try to either take two radically different photos with the same lens or to take similar photos with vastly different lenses.

This week I used the following: the K200D, the FA 43/1.9, the FA 77/1.8, the FA 31/1.8, the D-FA 100 macro, and the DA 35 macro.

Day 29: Young Again

Day 30: Back2Good, and Just in Time

Day 31: Two

Day 32: Freedom

Day 33: All Wound Up

Day 34: Two Peas in a Pod

Day 35: Breakable

As always, comments, criticisms, and questions are welcome!

Thanks, timk! Right now I'm trying to go with photos inspired by songs, but I just started that one.

You're just at a completely different level than everybody else. The creativity is amazing...

The top photo in "Two" is my kind of shot.

You can do no wrong Keitha.
And to keep up with this kind of creativity on a daily basis is just beyond me.
Freedom and Two Peas in a Pod are my faves, but these are just all toooo good!

Another terrific set Keitha. You have both a great imagination for creating the shots and a great skill for finishing them off.

I would have to say that "two peas in a pod" is my favorite from the series. Great work as always.
