The Big Green Flying Machine: Another reason I bought the DA* 60-250mm
Posted By: kcmadr, 08-09-2009, 05:48 PM

Taken at Everett, WA, while I was watching some warbirds flying around. They of course cleared out of the way pretty quickly when this thing came along. It was performing an aborted landing. See my gallery for technical details of the image.

I know it's a Boeing 737. I cannot, however, with 100% confidence tell you whether it's a -800, -900, or -900/ER, but I strongly suspect it's a 737-924ER.

Some additional info - on the same day I went to the Renton airfield and saw THREE additional 737's with the registration N1786B.

It's their internal ferry ID registration.

I didn't think it was ever possible to see two aircraft with the exact same reg'n, but that day I saw FOUR.

It is destined for Continental Airlines. When I get home later I'll post a pic that shows the lower portion of the rudder - it's a dead giveaway.

Well, my first thought was that the aircraft was in factory colours.

If by "factory colours" you mean primer/unpainted, then you're absolutely right.

Here you can see the rudder clearly, and the lower portion gives the customer as Continental.

After the fiasco this past weekend in MN, Continental might be flying incognito.

First Flight

According to this website

N57439 Continental Air Lines Boeing 737-924(ER)(WL) - cn 33534 / ln 2990 - Planespotters.net Just Aviation

The plane was delivered to Continental Airlines on 10 August 2009, and the photos I took of it were during its first test flight.
