Toronto storm
Posted By: pete_pf, 08-10-2009, 11:11 AM

there's another post of last nights storm but i don't want to hijack his thread so i'll post my own.

it was my first time trying to shoot lightning, so most of them turned out quite bad. but for next time (will probably be tonight, more storms coming) i'm hoping to have better shots so much fun to watch too, there were times i didn't even really care i missed the shot because it was just so cool to see

Beautiful shots, and I'm envious! I was out trying to get a good vantage when the rain hit (in around Elora/Fergus). Great strikes of lightning, but I couldn't find a spot to set up.

Congrats!

These are totally cool. The color and sharpness, wow.

How? What settings, how far, lens, and PP? (just a few questions)

I live in the NW and lightning is rare. Miss it. Might have to move....

um ... on a tripod using bulb. these two are iso 400 and 800 with 16 & 22 seconds. the lightning was quite far away, probably across lake ontario near niagra falls or something. lens was my 18-250mm at 18mm. pp is post processing right? um..... the colors are almost untouched really just vibrance added. then cranked black and contrast, i like landscapes that are punchy.
