Random Test Shots - DA 40mm F2.8 Limited
Posted By: legacyb4, 08-12-2009, 08:52 PM

Testing out the DA 40mm that I've borrowed from Dugrant. I've found that I really enjoy shooting with the DA 21 & DA 70 and was quite keen to see how the DA 40 would feel. Needless to say, I'm blown away by the diminutive size but incredibly sharp, contrasty images.

Random sampling from playing around yesterday and today.

That's one sharp lens.
It never ceases to amaze me how such a simply designed lens (with the smallest of lens elements) can produce such brilliant images.

Glad you like it
It never ceases to amaze me either. It's one of those lenses you never want to sell b/c it's so special. And I've sold off a few.

Great pics, by the way!

Now it's too bad it won't stop down to F1.9 and keep the pancake size!

I wouldn't mind a slightly larger lens to get F2.0

It is, no doubt.

Almost kicking myself for passing this one up although it's really something I can't justify buying without selling off something in a similar focal length.

Great shots, super sharpness and bokeh! The Chain and the Soccer ball in particular are very 3D!
Pancake lenses are awesome, I need to get the 40. I use the zuiko 25 with my 510 almost exclusively and love it.
These shots really make me wanna try the Pentax ones on my Super
Bravo!

Some additional shots coming out of the DA 40mm; the 3D "pop" effect coming from this lens is absolutely stunning!

Great price, but when I looked at the listing (even though it has closed), it showed $49.99 shipping. Where did you see the "free" part?

Tack sharp - good color rendition - looks like a winner to me. Nicely done.
