Formula D - Local drifting event (warning Motion shots)
Posted By: Gaelen, 08-14-2009, 12:40 PM

Well I've been out of the game for a few months, got an opportunity to get a media pass for a local Pro and Pro-Am drifiting event so I took it! Had a great time, although realized I was a bit rusty halfway through day 1 when i had about 4 good shots

after a bit more time and having a break was back in full swing....

On a side note, after all this I decided to go out and get myself an upgrade, I became the proud owner of a K20d yesterday (~1000 activations on it)...so I'm pretty excited for the next event again

All these taken with your what? Your 80-320 or your 400?
Pretty impressive either way.
Some obvious sensor dust, but nothing you couldn't fix (although you'll have less of this problem with your new K20D)...

You'll enjoy the upgrade - it's quite a step up from the K100D.

Mostly shot with the 80-320, a few with the 400mm..and thanks, I did have the advantage of shooting at a track I've shot at MANY times before, but the k100d has treated me well, it's just time for an upgrade

And yes, after 25,000+ activations, and 2 years of racing events I have not had much luck ever keeping it dust or rubber free for an entire event. Realization of standing 4feet from a car spitting out melted rubber

I am quite excited to try out the K20 at an event, hopefully it stays dust free

Must knock seven bells out of your tyres.

Good sharp shots, well done.

Oh it does, they enter the top of the 5/8's bank at about 80-90mph, and carry the speed most of the way round. So tires start to melt before they even finish the first corner!

Really cool shots. The first one definately deserves to grace the cover of a tuning or drift magazine. Good angle (both you and the driver) and nice composition.
