Back Saturday Fires - 6 Months On
Posted By: BaggyG, 08-15-2009, 11:54 PM

I went up to Kinglake, Victoria and wanted to try and get some photos that would show some of the devastation and the recovery.

I failed. The destruction was so immense that there was no way that I could record it an a few pixels. Looking across a wide valley and only seeing burned trees as far as the eye could see. The ground that even six months on still could not support grass or other plants.

Driving past empty lots with just a Hills Hoist clothes line and some white crosses (these I would not photograph out of respect) and some lots where the rebuilding has now started.

I really hope these speak for themselves...

Huh? No mirror. It's just that I wanted to include some of the burned trees in the frame. But I was thinking of flipping the image so the flag was the right way.
