Wild Spiderwort
Posted By: MO-bran, 08-16-2009, 11:49 AM

Yes, I thought I would post another flower picture--I had this in the gallery under nature and just thought I would ask for comments. Thanks!!

Shot at 270mm and cropped. 1/640sec, f 5.6, ISO 200 with K10 and the Sigma 50-500mm--I think it was on a monopod or handheld.

What should I do to better myself--I don't like to use to much PP after a shot.

I like it! It's got white highlights and black blacks. I love the way the colors of the flower stand out. I wouldn't change it a bit.

Only lighting's a little harsh, flattening details and causing strong shadows.
Nice capture though.

I think the lighting is rather soft! I don't find the shadows objectionable at all. Nice shot.

I did not know what the plant was either until one day at Lowes garden center and they had the plant for sale. It is dark due to it being in the woods and I was shooting down and across at it.

I love how the plant stands out, it is one of my favorite shots. Thanks JimH

A ray of sunshine was actually hitting the plant and that is why there is light on it at all. I guess I don't see the harshness.

Thanks again for the comments. I continue to learn with everyone's help and time behind the camera.
