Concerts for the victims of train disaster in Viareggio ( imgs)
Posted By: jonny1986, 08-20-2009, 12:36 PM

Yesterday i was assigned from my agency to cover this concert. In july a train disaster killed 28 persons in my town viareggio. yesterday many famous artists, italian and foreigners, gathered to raise money for the victims.
equipment used
k20d and k7
16-50 and my only tele at the moment sigma 105 2,8. My 50-135 is at service from 2 months and more, this is simply unacceptable. as a pro i like to use pentax but this problems are sometimes big for me. Today i decided to buy a 60-250 f4. For concerts is great. great focal and f4 is a lot with such a light.
my sigma 105 has also a problem in af system and sometimes i had problems focus. On the pro side i used the 1,7 converter with sigma and i was really surprised how good the photos come out form the combo and in addition the combo focus very fast.
k7 vs k20d. No contest. Simply we have a camera, with the right lenses, that rival every pther system. i tried focus sisde by side with d3 oly e3 and also an alpha 700 and the k7 is very near in afs. afc is where pentax can improve. i was amazed by the difference in metering and wbalance from the two camera. the k7 was simply spot on.
i love my k20d but i'm thinking of buying a 2 k7. i wanted buy a d3 this winter for this assignment, but i have decided to skip. for pj the iso performance of the k7 is good. pj agency and newspaper don't need hyperclean files. they are welcomed clearly, but also a k7 iso 2000 can be very good for editorial needs.

You have managed to capture some great facial expressions on some of the artists in very low light, well done.

Didn't do badly at all mate.
#11 has a little too much negative space for my liking but I do like the idea.
The sea of people shot is great.
Overall, spectacular work.
Well done.
