Very relaxing images Douglas. Any one of them could grace a wall or computer monitor and soothe the viewer.

How big are the real jellyfish and was the tank backlit with that light?

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Cheers

Douglas... More cool shots in what appears to have been a successful jellyfish shooting season... It's amazing how many different types there are isn't it?

UFO is what I thought when I shot this jelly as well...

More HERE.

Mike

We've had some great jellies on here recently, I just find them fantastic things to look at, up here the waters are way too cold for such stuff.

Thanks all!
Light is a mixture from lamps above the tanks and from the other side of the tanks, that's why the background goes blank in some areas. Color is almost original. I had to increase contrast since it came out very low (FA50/1.4 wide open).

Yes, they are quite nice subjects. The ones in this tank reminded me a bit about the space ship E.T. came in...

These are shot at the science museum Universeum in Gothenburg (Göteborg). You can visit everything form Amazonas to the Arctic there, and do loads of physical hands on experiments. The aquarium section is extensive.

Otherwise I can recommend the Aquarium in Helsinki, Finland. They have fluorescent jellyfishes...and an octopussy who plays with Lego!

A pitty I gave up scubadiving...

I followed you link to your jellyfish post. Awesome! Quite similar set up: K20D and a fast 50 (good museum lens in generall), but I like yours better. Perhaps I should follor your example and clean them up a bit.
