I reported a fire!
Posted By: alohadave, 08-21-2009, 09:40 PM

I was in South Boston tonight after having dinner with friends (Morton's yum!).

As we drove by this building, we noticed smoke coming out of the roof. After we called 911, we circled around the block and parked so I could get pictures and watch the firefighters work.

The Boston Fire Department responded with at least 7 trucks, 4 ladders and 3 engines that I saw.

They had the fire under control and mostly out in under an hour.

I submitted the pictures to several local papers and TV stations, and one of channels featured 2 of the pictures during the 11pm news!

Nice photos.

I'd assume they were on a tripod - do you always carry one with you?

Nice work on calling in the fire in the first place and getting shots in the second. Love the first one.

No tripod, all handheld. I had switched to a smaller bag for dinner and only had my 16-45 lens with me.

ISO 800, f/4, and most of them were 1/8 second, some were 1/4 second, but those were mostly too blurry to be usable.
