K10D, Helios 44-2. Over-exposed (see the lip). Shame about the bokeh. I guess people don't like square photos, but I felt that was the ratio that worked best here.

Don't be too critical of yourself.
It isn't a bad result at all.
What don't you like about the bokeh?
The lighting's a little strong coming from the window, but reasonably well balanced, and the highlight clipping isn't glaringly obvious, esp. in B&W.
I think it's a nice portrait.

I agree completely with Ash. Sometimes we all get too hung up on the technical. The hardest part of a portrait is the human side. I am sure the sitter here is pleased as punch.

Oh, thanks! Though maybe I gave a bit of a wrong impression. I'm not displeased with the portrait -- I wouldn't have posted it if I was! But yeah, the technical problems do annoy me a bit.
