Arches, Utah.....[4 IMG]
Posted By: Duplo, 08-29-2009, 02:33 PM

Well first of all I need to thank all of you for the huge amount of advise i got here before going to the US on my chance trip.

Anyway, things changed quite radically during the planning as Brendan decided to drive in from Baltimore to have some fun in fields.

SO serious shooting got compromised somewhat, but in stead we had a load of fun and managed a few decent images along the way too.
The decent images and pretty standard for a visit there I imagine, will be posted in this post along with a link to some of the more leasurely shots from the trip.

So lets get to it

Skyline Arch (DA21):

Delicate Arch (FA43):

Shot this flower thingy while driving on highway 128 towards Moab with the DA21, really think it handled things quite nicely:

Ohh and a link to the gallery of more leasurely shots:

A few comments on arches it self.
Arches while extremely beautiful, is really more of a family zone than a hiking area, at least judged by what I am used to, huge trails, well marked and with a dificulty level well below expected. so definitely a place where you can bring family around.
I expected at least some areas with unmarked and steep terrain, but we managed to find no such thing, at least where you were allowed to go.
Temperature was perfect, in the +90 degree area and with loads of sun.
That said we had some amazing days there and that is what matters.

so to the people that gave advise, a sincere "thank you" you helped me a lot and to Brendan;
"We got to do this more often, great trip it was "

Thanks for looking

Nice shots!

There are plenty of places in Utah for more strenuous hiking and life-threatening drops. The Arches are great, though, and there's a good pub nearby.

Thank you.
I know, but i guess what caught me by surprise was how family friendly all of Arches were.

Given that i only had like 4 days I had to limit myself to one fairly small area, to get soemthing useful with me home and that made Arches very well suited.

I am comming back for some of that at some point

Nice photos, Thomas. I really like the penultimate one (Delicate Arch), but it looks a little flat, maybe some tweakin' would do the job with a little off the left side.

Great, nonetheless.

Thank you for your comments, compliments and kind suggestions, perhaps a difference in our calibration profiles?

Appreciate you taking the time.
