My First Wedding!

So here is a selection of the photos from my first wedding shoot.

So on the day, I had scouted some nice parkland however as we stepped outside to go to the location, the sky opened up and it started to rain.

So I ended up improvising. I got all the traditional kind of posed shots but I really like these ones because they really show the joy and happiness that this day should be remembered for.

Taken with Pentax K20D and *ist DS, FGZ360 and VERY old Vivitar speedlights and wireless triggers.

Comments welcome.

Your off-camera flash shots worked reasonably well.
Haven't done too badly for your first one.
Practice makes perfect.

With the photos or with each other?

They haven't seen the photos yet and they seemed happy with each other.

I'll post some more as I get through the PP.

I took some 700 shots so I'm now realising that the hard work starts now n sorting and tweaking.

great capture for a first timer....in doing weddings dont mind too much of the technical aspect of taking pictures..just make sure that its all properly exposed and importantly the bride should always compliment the shots....hehehehe.....in the final proof its the bride that get her way and not the groom......
i like your wedding details shots also

with the pics is what I meant?
1. Bright lights around heads of B&G distracting
2. Help, I am about to fall. And funny hand shadow on dress.
3. Underexposed and she is sticking her rude finger up at me.
4. Harsh shadows, unflattering light, shiny forehead on groom and not a very happy look from groom
5. Again... shadows unflattering light and spooky face in background
6. ?
7. BIG shadows in front of bride and best man
8, good attempt, no contrast try curves.

This is just my opinion and may differ greatly from yours and your taste. and if the B&G are happy that is really all that matters. My comments meant in good intention only

Feedback is greatfully accepted and more or less agreed with.

The couple (especially the bride) HATE having thier photos taken. I tried a few posed shots and they they looked so uncomfortable that I just moved them around and told them to relax and stand/sit how they want. Maybe not the best thing to do but the best I could come up.

Once they have a look at the final products I shall report back with the response.

I say as already said if the B& G are happy you have done a good job. I think the flash is a little harsh in 1 &2 but that is just me. The rest I like fun and different

700 photos is way too much! I would have stuck to 150-300, tops. I couldn't imagine that so many were taken. That's roughly one every 30 seconds for nearly 6 straight hours!! Or one every 15 seconds for nearly 3 straight hours!!

I was there for over 8 hours . With all the group/family shots I had to take multiple multiples because everyone seemed to blink at the wrong time :ugh:. And then there were the 2.5 fps runs during the entrance and exits etc. Then there were all the afternoon tea and then reception shots. <groan>. I suppose I may have over done it but I didn't want to miss anything.

I kinda struggle with the PP (I'm still learning) but 'have book, will learn'. haha

Hours of shooting + hours of PP for 700 shots = better have been paid a huge amount of cash! Even just thinking about copying, printing, sorting 700 pics makes my head spin.
