The versatile mirror

Interesting how when you put your mind to it, you can use a single lens in many different applications.

Here's an example where I used my Tamron 500/8 mirror lens as a macro lens:


incidently, this particular lens has 1:3 macro capabilities by virtue of its 1.7m close-focusing ability.







as a portrait lens:


as a landscape lens:

this is the Warrego highway ascending the Range taken from atop Picnic Point, a good 500+ metre drop...

all images uncropped and minimally edited (ie. just contrast/brightness adjustments).


This really is a solid, well-built, sharp lens, but does need full sun (or decent flash) to get good results, given its fixed f/8 aperture. It also means that the closer the focusing, the shallower the DoF, so is somewhat limiting that way...
