Some Experimental Shots Using The Pentax Flash
Posted By: Christopher M.W.T, 09-03-2009, 08:56 PM

These two using bounce flash.

This was shot with the flash off camera. I think i've said it before the AF540 works surpisingly well off camera I can put the flash in a lot of different positions and I find it triggers 99% of the time.

And this isn't a flash one, but I took it yesterday, only thing I took it as a JPEG, gah I really hate JPEG, I find it so limiting.

No love?

I think the first photo is a testament to how good the K7 is a 100% crop of the first photo and you can clearly make out myself and the camera

At 100% crop, there is excellent detail.
Couldn't get better there.

I dare say the first photo probably represents the best of what the 16-45mm can do IMHO.

Love to try the shot again with a proper macro like the DFA100 or Tammy or Sigma.

I love the AF540 flash, so easy to use. Whilst not perfect (ie I see how the build quality is lacked such as the battery door) I think it's a great unit.

Very happy I bought it from the states and saved myself nearly $300.

Tis the nature of the beast - you can indeed cleary see the reflection in the eye very cool and I like the shadows of her at the computer.

It was an accident that shot, I wasn't trying to get my reflection in it, I was more trying to get a decent bright image. Makes me really want a nice quality longer lense. If thats what I can get with a simple DA16-45mm imagine what I can do with a true macro

I've posted a few that garnered no comments at all.....but thank God I was born without whatever it takes to act like the world owes me admiration.

Hey C.W,

I like the detail in her eyes, particularly number 2.
I wasn't too fond of the Police shot initially, but for some reason it really reminds me of Australia.
Was it taken at a graduation or something?
Has a cool feel about it I think

It was actually part of a police guard of honour at a funeral.

I was asked by the family to capture some shots of it.

I like the eye shots very much. I like the 540 and agree it is a lot of fun to use off camera.

It's an amazingly bright flash still, I was using in a hall the other day and was shocked to see how far I should get the light to go.
