Friendly Kangaroos
Posted By: goddo31, 09-06-2009, 06:45 AM

Went down to Pinnaroo Memorial Park this afternoon to pay respects.
Pinnaroo is basically a cemetery in Perth, Australia, but it's also a kind of reserve for Australian native animals and plants etc.

Pinnaroo is well known for having a lot of Kangaroos - so it wasn't hard to find these guys.

1 - Listening carefully

2 - Sitting in comfort

3

4

5

6 - Their namesake, red "Kangaroo Paws", a native flowering plant

Comments always welcome
All with DA 55-300mm lens.
Lighting was challenging, sun was very bright with harsh lighting.

cheers,
Jason

Shows the 55-300 can do some sharp work...
You've done well to use the harsh light to your advantage.

Thanks all

Pat - If you get a chance to visit Perth, the place I took these photos is an easy way to come into close contact with some Kangaroos (Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park)

Ash - I'm very happy with the sharpness of my 55-300. Only downside for me is it makes it harder for me to use the kit lens...
The harsh lighting was very difficult for me, although not too bad on the 'roos.
I took several flower pics after and most didn't work out.

cheers,
Jason

What's with the white spots on their foreheads? Targets or maybe Hindu kangaroos just back from the temple

hahah no idea!
I've never seen Kangaroos with a marking like that. Most of them (was about 15 'roos in a group) had the marking...

Thanks raider

If I was a Kangaroo with a big white mark on my forehead I'd want to live in a nature reserve.
