ID help please. Nasty bugs!
Posted By: imtheguy, 09-06-2009, 10:02 AM

Will they kill me if I don't kill them first? Noticed right outside the back door a little cluster of fuzzy spots, dark and white. Dark bugs about 5mm long and white egg shells. Shot with Phoenix plastic fantastic 100mm and dioptor.

Here is one moving around more than the others.

...and here is the cluster f... where the eggs are stuck to the house by those little amber bowling pin looking things.

Anybody got a verdict? Leave them alone or leave town?

thanks.

Thanks to Mark and Blue I now know to avoid the pits soon to be appearing in the soil around the house. I played enough HL2 to understand the dangers of Antlions.

Really guys, thanks for taking the time to id the critters for me. I will enjoy watching them grow up.

I didn't think bedbugs would be that big, should they resemble them.
If they are carpet beetles, seems you can kiss your carpets bye, bye.

If these should be beneficial, I don't know if I would prefer these to ants. But then I don't know the ants that you have around. But they for sure look like something out of a Sci-fi movie.

Creepiest buggers since this thread :

Thank you for your concern but we are getting along fine now. I feed each of them a cow in the morning and they let me alone the rest of the day.
