My camera's farewell pictures
Posted By: rm2, 09-07-2009, 04:55 PM

I have my *istDs in the market place and I have a potential buyer checking with his wife.

I went out for a walk with it and my old manual Vivitar 50 mm. I almost hope the buyer doesn't go for it. If he does, I'll probably have to wait a little before buying my next camera. Oh well. I am interested in the SR feature of the newer cameras. But, I am sure going to miss many things about this Ds. So, here are possibly my farewell pictures from this camera.

Gorgeous captures.
You'll do just as well (or even better) with another Pentax

Do consider something like the K200D (if you can find one) or the K-m/K2000 - that is if you liked the Ds interface that much. Otherwise consider the 'upgrade' to a K10D/K20D if funds permit. And you'll be fine!

Thanks

Thanks. Yeah, I think I will go for the K10D or K20D. I'm too used to the pentaprism for manual focus.

Fantastic work. They say the dynamic range of the pre 10 meg cameras was better than today's top SLR's because they didn't try to fit so much info on a pixel and small sensor. Your photos remind me of the article I read. Crisp, clean and sharp.

The final captures are nice, but I'm sure once you get your hands on a newer Pentax, your decision to sell the Ds will be all worthwhile.

Unless the selling of your istD is necessary to fund the new camera purchase then I would most certainly keep it. I have an istDL which is dedicated to m42's 99.99 percent of the time. Of course I only have 5 DSLR plus 45 lens on hand. jim

Well in the end I did end up getting cold feet and pulled the camera out of the Market Place. :ugh:

That was a close call.

I have to ask about the first photo, which is spectacular. Why is the background blue? Is it a bokeh of blue flowers?

I feel that if I tell you the mystery of the picture will be lost. Lets just enjoy it for what it is. But, I do admit it was a fluke.

Great looking fluke! Love the other images too. I still have the K10 after buying the K20 and would not give up the old camera more as a back up in case the K20 went down. I was also able to get my 18 year old daughter interesting in joining me on photos ops. cheers and again great images. JIM
