Lunchtime special - new lens
Posted By: goddo31, 09-08-2009, 06:32 AM

Pardon the silly name, I recently received a new DA 16-45mm lens, and took it out lunchtime today for some test shots.

So far I am really liking the lens, I had some fun with flowers too and was surprised at how close I could get!

Fairly basic shots - but comments still welcomed.

#1 - I went down to a local park with a lake:

#2 - Not sure what happened with this one, ended up a bit too vibrant, oops

#3 - Paperbark tree

#4 - Simple flower, done at F5.6

#5 - This one at F7.1

Some fairly minor colour adjustments in PP, no sharpening.
I'm really happy with this lens so far!

cheers,
Jason

P.S. can you spot the creature in the centre of the flowers?

Congratulations on your new lens! Hope you'll enjoy it. Judging your first shots, I think you'll become slightly addicted to it.

Did you notice that on Flickr there is a group on "first series with new lenses?" In which, new, of course means: new to the owner. So doesn't matter if the lens is second- third- tenth hand, if it is new to you, it is great.

I started the group there, because I was curious to see what people shoot to test their equipment. Clearly the testing is more important than the subject then. Sometimes...

Thanks
Yeah I am very happy with the sharpness and the colours so far... Which is good, because this will essentially be replacing my kit lens, possibly a little excessive to be replacing a lens already but oh well!

It was cheap, seems to be great value for money - although these things have already been said on this forum.

Thanks Syb, I'll have a look at that group.

dcmsox2004 - You should be excited! I was before I got it, now I still am

I'll do some more the next time I can get out of the office and the weather is nice. It's raining today..

Thanks for the comments.

cheers,
