Great pose in the first shot. Great feather detail on the second.

Agree with both of those statements and wished I could have blended the two. Was just a bit off on the focus on the first one. [Manual focus / should have been more patient] Appreciate your commenting. JIM

Nice ones Jim.
Detail plus in #2.
An even shallower DOF would have turned out great too.

Thanks Dave. It is slightly off and looses some of the detail the second one has. Hand Held and manual focus, which I am using more with the wildlife shots. Here's one more. These damn Herons are going to drive me nuts! so close to the WOW shot but still not there. Crap! JIM

It took me probably six months to get "the" Heron shot. I still want to capture a good one in flight though... they look wonderful with that enormous wing span.

The greens in your last shot look incredible. Great details too; was this the Sigma 70-200?

#2 and #3 are my favorites Jim.

As you probably know, those random head movements when they hunt make life interesting for the photographer...

I wasted a many good shots Marc due to their head movement. They are so fast. It also took my 40 minutes to get close enough to shoot these. Waited him out and it paid off. I have also been use manual focus on the last couple of outings and I am liking it. Definately a better way to go with this Heron's. Really appreciate you looking in on my Heron shots. See you next week Marc. jim
