Some samples from the Marshall University's Thundering Herd vs. Southern Illinois University's Salukis Football game on 5 Sep 2009.

All shot from the stands using the K20D and the BIGMA. Shutter speeds and apertures varied.

These 2 were shot at ISO 1600

Thanks everyone. The Bigma really does let you "reach out and touch someone" doesn't it? Good luck shooting JV Scott. I'm hoping to get to another game sometime this fall to apply the lessons I learned this time around. This was the first time I've shot football since I was in college (right about 27 years ago...LOL) and it was a real kick (no pun intended).

The icing on the cake was taking my dad to the game and Marshall winning! Hoorahhh! (Sorry to any Salukis fans out there... Y'all put up a great fight though!). My dad was a student at Marshall one semester back in 1955 and this was the first game he has been to in all of the intervening years. He had a blast!

Mike

p.s. I'll post more shots here as I get the chance to process them.

Great shots, Mike, as usual. Gee, your photos are bringing back my past today; I did my undergrad work at SIU (BA '68) a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Anyway, terrific job.

I don´t know anything about football, but it seems to me that you shot in the right moments: kicking the ball, taking it. Great job.

Thanks guys. Your Salukis did a good job Jer. I think if they'd had another 30 seconds they could have kicked a field goal andforced the game into overtime.

My 2nd cousin, Ray Hagley was the team doctor and was on the flight with his wife when it crashed. Needless to say the movie hit me pretty hard!
