Yesterday I posted Heron images on a cloudy and rainy day which gave, IMO richer colors then these shot in late afternoon today where the sun was out. Not sure which looks better but it is interesting how the same subject can change with lighting giving me all sorts of ideas in the future. Sorry for all the Heron shots guys! JIM

Do you keep these things as pets in your back yard or something? You always seem to have great shots of these birds. I hardly ever see them around, but you've always got something on the go with these critters. Nice work as usual.

The Herons can be a little difficult to get close to. I was about 10 -20 feet away on these shots and it took about 30 minutes. Everytime I would get set they will fly 100 feet down and I would have to start again. I know a few areas where they feed and they do return almost every day to the same location. I have sometimes set up and waited for them to fly in. I find these birds very interesting and difficult to shoot. Still looking for that WOW factor. Thank you for your kind words. JIM
