No need to be harsh, just brutal.

Sharp photo - subject is not very interesting (for me), but well exposed and good choice of aperture.
Well done.

assuming a self portrait, aren't yoou a little young?

actually the thing I like most is the exposure of the white on white.

Detail is perfect, not blown out. This is actually a tough metering job.

since you asked...

Its a great shot of the subject but there are too many distractions in the photo - thereby preventing the image from being really great. The fingers in the background and denim in the foreground are what hurts this image the most. Other than that it is technically quite good. The downward gaze of the cat isn't the best pose but you take what you can get with animals eh?

I like how the kitten's fur sort of mimics the texture of the towel.

You want harsh? I got harsh. I'll bet that critter has fantastic deep tourquise eyes but at this angle I only see the slightest hint of color. Ok, not that harsh. A kitten's eyes are so big and often so colorful you should include that if you can.

I also like the way his/her fur mimic's the towel. Good choice for a first post.

I can't help but laugh at that - I'm not a cat-lover either but many people would love this subject matter!

Anyway, I think this is a good first photo
Sharpness and DoF is very nice, although I would agree with the denim being a bit distracting.

Welcome to the forum and that is a well exposed image, for my taste I would have cropped it a bit.
