Some Lovely K7 Sunset Shots (would love some feedback)
Posted By: Christopher M.W.T, 09-12-2009, 02:00 AM

This photo is out of the camera with post-processing in CS4.

Anyone care to share any tips how I could further bring out the sunray? I tried but couldn't get it standing out quite as I liked it.

This photo is HDR, couldn't get it any other way.

When are people going to stop including K-7 in the title of their threads? Are they pictures that wouldn't be possible without the K-7?

Well just giving support to the K7, it's still a new kid on the block.

The HDR image looks like a painting.
I think it suits OK, perhaps a little overdone, but the effect's come out nicely.
Thanks for sharing.

i really like that hdr, probably a little overbaked, but i like it that way.Its very BOLD
maybe you could try some manual dodging to bring the rays of the first pic out,but im new to this digital stuff so for all i know that may not help at all.

great stuff though dude

Manual dodging? hmmm I could try that.

I've been looking for tutorials on bringing out rays but so far haven't found much of value so far.

Dodging/burning to emphasize.

The HDR/tone-mapping is overdone and detracts from the image (especially being that the area around the sun is still blown out), in my opinion.

In my opinion I think I space the exposures too far apart at 1+/- EV.

I know that HDR doesn't get a lot love on this forum lol, I on the other hand love HDR as it blurs lines between photography and painting in some respects.

The saturation's way overdone in the HDR. The light's coming from behind that wall - so the brick shouldn't be glowing like that. Try adding a hue/saturation layer and then back off the saturation in the red and green channels just a tad - it won't affect the sky, and the glowing brick will look a lot more natural.

Don't have one yet, although I must admit I don't quite understand them and how it would actually help in this sort of shot, but if you can point me in the right direction that'd be sweet, thanks.

Also i'd share another HDR shot IMHO it's not as overdone

Wow, that last shot is amazing. I love the contrast of the blue wall against the sky. Great job!
