A portrait of my son...
Posted By: heliphoto, 09-13-2009, 11:50 PM

With the Tamron 70-200/2.8 @ 70mm f/5 on the K20D @ ISO 2000

BTW, I'm impressed that ISO 2000 looks this good (even when pixel peeping). I don't think my K-7 can live up to this (though I prefer it in so many ways).

I like the fact you cropped at his forehead and encapsulated his eyes and smile in a triangular shape. As for good looking, let's just say the blue eyes have it!

Very nice shot Josh! ISO 2000 on the K20 so very functional, as you clearly show.

the eyes are so important and in this shot they are great, sharpness and the deep blue color.
Am also impressed by the iso performance especially since the skin looks so detailed and noise free. Looks better than the iso 800 shots I get with my k7

Thanks JMR - actually, no crop to that photo, glad you liked my composition ... The eyes make the photo for me too.

Thanks Andreas - I seldom use such high ISO outdoors, but I was using TAv to keep shutter speeds up, and that's the ISO that was needed - worked out just fine. I really don't think my K-7 would do anywhere near as good at this ISO which is really sad - in fact, the improved focus performance, frame rate etc at the expense of high ISO has me vaguely considering changing brands - if I could have the focus performance of the K-7 with high ISO performance equal to or better than the K20d (which I believe you get from the top two brands), man, that would be awesome! So ironic that the K-7, which is so awesome in so many respects, makes me consider abandoning the brand .
