I have that wonderful lens too, but it has never taken shots such as these. So it ain't the lens, it's the photographer. Well done!

I very much like that bee shot. The detail available with that low rich lighting is something I have not obtained with bumble bees yet. Great color. The first shot just flashed the expression "who's your daddy?" the second I saw it. For real. Crude maybe, but thats me. Also a fine shot with excellent color.

Excellent shots, the bee one is my favourite of the two.

Thank you. But, it is a nice lens...without it's bokeh and sharpness, I can't do much with it. I like it as much as my FA limiteds.

...thank you so much....

ok, with the lighting, there is quite a bit I can say. One, there is PP to get some of that lighting, and also this was taken under scorching bright sunlight around 2p.m. and the Green/evaluative metering on the K-7 did an astounding job. The only problems I had out of the camera was with the blown highlight on the bee's eyes, and overall lack of light on the body. The red flowers were a bit brighter than the bee, drawing the eye to the sharp, almost 3-d'ish red flowers. So, I burned the highlights on the eye, and then with curves brightened the whole scene and masked everything else other than the bee, did this twice to brighten the bee. This got me the lighting I wanted on the bee..the K-7 metering helped a lot (shocked me...I was expecting to throw all my images due to the light, but it worked).

The colrs popped when I increased contrast and I added a bit of saturation as well, and possibly saturation of some selective colors.

Thank you...I loved the bugs copulating right away...the bee shot was sort of a salvage shot when I looked through my shots for the second time, and it worked. So, i wasn't too sure how good the second shot was, as I liked the first one immediately. So, I am glad the second one looks pleasing as well.

Thank you.

They were at it for a long time , gave me enough time to take tons of shots and angles....nothing disturbed them.
