monochrome binge again
Posted By: enoeske, 09-17-2009, 10:41 AM

Went out for a photo walk across the street to the train station looking for some shots for an upcoming "contrast" themed photo contest. I'm stuck in monochrome mode again. My new smc-k 50mm f/1.4 should be here today too. Oh boy!

Wow, really like these - very simply but good composition and impact. I'd like to see some more if you have them .

How did you post process these, did you do some sort of split toning to give a cross processed look?

Thanks. As for the processing, I typically start with a nicely edited color version. Then use a few tricks to process into b&w. Sometimes I like the b&w conversion as is like the 2nd shot above. Sometimes I tweak a few more things (curves, gradient map, warming filter) to add some color back into it like the 1st and 3rd shot above.

Here are a few from just minutes ago I took with the K 50mm f/1.4. I can't believe how good this lens is. I love it.

Nice series. I really like the 3rd one, especially with the DOF you used.

Really like that shot of the sewer grid (#2); the repetitive pattern & DOF works well together.

Well done with them.
