My first photos
Posted By: reytor, 09-18-2009, 08:09 AM

I thought, it's time to post couple of photos to receive constructive critisism and comments.
I normally do not use much post processing (I like naturality of nature photos), but I have used in-camera settings to get colours more vibrant in some of the samples.

This first one was one of the first photos I took with my newly arrived K-7.
It's also the only one with a little post processing (noise reduction).

This one shows clay layer deposits in some ancient fond of sea.

The final two are macro samples from my carden.

Enjoy (if possible)!

The first one is my favorite, but I enjoyed them all. I like the colors in the first pic as they appear bold, but not over saturated. The second shot is interesting, but I would have liked to have scene the clay mound in a different compisition then "dead center" Nice bokeh behind the leaf and flower, but again I would say try diffent angles then right in the center of the frame to give the photos more depth.

Thanks Pentax_XTC for your comments.
The first one is also my favorite because of it's colors and the turbulent look in parts of the cloud.

I see what you mean by "dead center" and in case of the clay mound I can now think of couple different angles to try and maybe also playing around with DOF to give interesting + to the pic. As it is only about hour+ from my home, I will visit the place again.

The two garden pics were taken to try out my DA35 macro to see bokeh behavior (which turned out to be exelent) and sharpness. And - again - I can see how different angle would give interesting looks for the leaf, but I'd like to get a bit more input for the rose. Which way would you (or someone) change the angle for this subject?

Another fan of the first one here.
The warm colours are very pleasant and complement the smooth silhouette.
Thanks for sharing - well done.

Try starting at about 20 degrees from shooting straight into the center of the rose. Adjust from there until you have some shadow detail inthe petals. When I started moving away from the center shoots the best thing I did was keep my eye in the viewfinder and move around until I saw something in the frame that caught my attention and I would snap the shutter. I'd say try many angles and when you review them, find the ones the YOU like and build on your skills from there.
