This photo was taken down in Dagenham Dock. I was in Dagenham visitin' a photographer friend of mine.

Interesting lines. I like the B&W version but sometimes the containers can be a variety of color, ( sometimes not though ) .

Thanks Oren.
These containers were mainly blue, grey and yellow, but the colour detracts from what I intend this photo to be.

Regards.

I like this Pauly! I like the combination of the diagonal lines of the fence superimposed on the horizontal lines of the cargo containers. Also I like the tonality. Nice shot. Isn't it amazing the volume of material that flows through these shipping containers?

Thanks Jim, it is amazin'. The way they stack 'em offers a great opportunity to the photographer too, both as a document and an abstract.

Also like it.
The repetition is cleverly framed both with the fence and the containers.

Pauly, for a number of reasons I like the B/W version better. In the color version, the fence becomes irrelevant and actually detracts from the composition, it becomes too busy. In addition the various colors of the containers also detracts from the overall composition. I think your decision to convert to B/W was a good choice. Since you display much of your work in B/W I'm assuming that you tend to see in B/W when you are looking at a scene. As Ansel Adams would have referred to as "pre-visualization".

Thanks, Jim.
I dislike the colour version for the same reason you state, its great that you see it the same way.
B&W is great for shape, texture and form etc. I love it.

I am currently studyin' a lot of Martin Parr's work in colour. I like his work.

I like it B/W too. Two thoughts, are you able to bring out a little richer black and more of the dark tones to give it a more brooding feel? Perhaps also with a little intentional grain.

As for the color version...what about wshing it out a little to make it look like a late 40's, early 50's shot?

I really enjoy the composition, lines and framing of this shot.
Basically I'm with JimH and Sailor.

B&W really makes it special.

Yeah, I take onboard what you say, John. I do like to decolour some of my colour shots anyway.
