Panorama Vliehors
Posted By: Rense, 09-20-2009, 12:02 PM

After some PM'ing with Gary, I tried another approach to my panorama shooting. This is a first result. Certainly not the best pano ever, but I like it anyways. Made from 8 exposures, portrait, with the Helios-44M.

This looks nice Rense! Looks like you used a pan head on a tripod and did a nice pan. What software did you use to do the stitching?

Thanks Jim. No, I did not use a tripod at all, they are handheld. This is the first pano I made with Microsoft ICE (Image Composite Editor). It's a free program...

Looks good Rense. A fine result handheld!
The colours are brought out here nicely.

Rense,

Ws the pano anywhere near the military gunnery range (is it still in existance)? I used both it and Nordvaarder back in the '92-'95 time frame while flying out of Spangdahlem.

Yes, it's AT the military gunnery range. In that time, it was only sand, but now there can be found quite some salt marsh vegetation. They are still flying, but the shooting range for the cavallery is closed some years ago. The Noordvaarder is closed though, and given to a nature conservation organisation.

Nice pano Rense, the land seems to go on forever with the sea in the end taking over.

Beautiful, subtle colors Rense. It's a very simple subject, yet conveys the expansiveness quite well.
