The monochromes are just lovely.
Beautiful perspectives Andras.

Unusual topic and very well composed series. Difficult to pick a single favorite. I'll just take them all thank you.

i like the first three shots, interesting composition. But in my opinion, the last three are not as well composed. It seems the subject is right smack in the center of the frame.

Great impressions Andras,
looks like that airfield is on a plateau.
My fave is the Foka in the third pic, great airplane.
I guess you have flown one of them, too ?
Not too many thermals I guess.
Break a leg!

I used to spend my youth around gliders busy flying them and the tow planes and doing all sorts of things that can be done in a gliding club. It's nice to capture the moments which bring back the memories.

You're right those are not the same type of pictures as the first three. I tried to capture the moments that are so typical before the glider gets airborne. On the first picture the young girl is looking up to see what the other gliders are doing up front (probably above the winch which can be a good source for thermals) while the fellow girl is ready to attach the rope to the glider. The second is the ground run before lift off and the third one captures the initial climb phase. Nothing "artistic" just documentary.

I grew up on gliding fields in Canada where my father and uncle were pilots (and competed nationally and internationally in the 15m class). Those planes have a special place in my heart though I don't fly myself.

I particularly like the non-sepia monochrome image.
