new 55-300 First Shots....WOW
Posted By: VaughnA, 09-25-2009, 02:44 PM

I just received my new (store demo) 55-300DA from Ritz's eBay store. I had to wait for the rain to stop and finally got to go outside and play. The hummers were hungry so I got a couple of good shots along with a dove. All handheld with flash. I can't believe the difference in IQ compared to my old 50-300. 300 bucks well spent.

The hummers. Before you say anything the spots are on the wall, not the sensor.

Yeah, these aren't great photos but they demonstrate how sharp the thing is. I had to run outside between rain showers to play with the new toy. It is easy to see the difference between it and the 50-200 that it replaced. I can't wait to have good light and a full day to play.

It's a good one - may need just a little boost in EC to get exposure right (mine needs +0.7 or so for most conditions).
