Power for the City...
Posted By: heliphoto, 09-27-2009, 09:28 PM

These lines bring power from the Moccasin power plant (part of the Hetch Hetchy project) to San Francisco...

12-24mm @ 12mm, f/8, 1/400, ISO 100 on the K-7.

I just got the 12-24mm, and I think I'm going to enjoy it quite a bit. Post processing on this shot was in Lightroom, using the "Aged Photo" preset, followed by various tweaks...

Interesting PP there Josh, you have managed to reproduce the colours of an east coast Australian summer landscape there very well.

Clever shot, Josh - makes the everyday look surreal.

Sorry to hear that Taff... I do too a bit actually (though I must say I like the composition ), but I haven't been shooting much lately, so it's all I got... The dull nature of the colors is intentional - trying to convey the oppressive heat and brightness of the mid-day summer sun. The dullness of the composition / subject mater, well, that's all me .

Thanks Dale - That's pretty much what I was going for. I've never been there, but I think this part of California is quite similar (so far no dust storms for us though ).

Glad you like it JMR - a shotgun marriage arranged by man.

Yep, he sure did do it well. I can normally pick shots taken in Australia due to the general characteristics of the landscape here, and you got me there with the PP. Nice use of lines, though to me, the photo just feels a little bit unbalanced somewhere.

Thanks pop4 - It's probably the overall slope to the right, emphasized by the rock wall in the foreground which is giving the unbalanced feeling - sorry: unbalance photographer = unbalanced compositions , what can I say?
