Wild Skies!
Posted By: heliphoto, 09-29-2009, 09:46 PM

Went out drivin' today, looking for something to shoot. Happily, the weather cooperated with very unseasonal and un-Californian skies... Mammatus clouds!...

All shot with the 12-24mm f/4 @ 12mm, f/5.6, ISO 100 on the K20D.

This shot's a pano, from seven portrait orientation frames (a lot of overlap)...

Here's a single 12mm landscape shot from the same area - my favorite of the series...

A backlit tree - the mama clouds are behind me in this shot...

Hey Josh, the last one is beautifully bleak - great shot.

Cool clouds!

#3 looks like Mordor. My fave of a very good series.
Thanks flippedgazelle. Glad you liked 'em.

Nice shots! They have that "Wrath of God" feel to them.
Thanks Pentax_XTC...

Thanks Jer, it's a stark shot. I bet if you ask your daughter, that she's got a shot of this tree too (I'm guessing)... The second shot from this post was taken exactly across the road from the tree in my third shot. It's a very photogenic spot and I see photographers stopped there all the time - I can't imagine she stopped there and didn't shoot this tree .
