Last Hummers of the Year...
Posted By: VaughnA, 09-30-2009, 05:24 PM

Right as I get my new 55-300 and figure out how to use it they decide to leave town. These were ISO800-1600 right at sunset. Jpegs cleaned up with Neat Image.

A little fuzzy but I like it anyway.

You have brought exemplary 55-300 photos to the table...
Well done.
Sure it's not the sharpest or best contrasted set of images, but with some PP work, they can really shine.
Thanks for sharing.

Good-looking shots. Personally, I would have opted for a bit more detail at the expense of more noise, but of course that's just my own taste!

Nice images, the 55-300 is a very underrated lens.

I agree with you on that, I'm extremely happy with the 55-300, a noticable improvement over the 50-200 that it replaced. It's made me realize the shortcomings of the 18-55. I'm considering selling my 50 F1.7 to help finance a 16-45 to replace the kit lens. I find that I rarely use the prime because it seems that it isn't wide enough for me. I'm on a VERY limited budget and would like to have something better than the kit zoom for my upcoming trip to the southwest.

Thanks, We're leaving the feeders out and filled for a bit longer. Members of the local bird club see stragglers migrating throughout the late fall and early winter.
