2009 Flatlanders Exotic Autoshow (12 pics)
Posted By: Black Magic, 09-30-2009, 11:27 PM

Over the weekend The ZR Flatlanders Auto Club put on a show featuring over 20 exotic cars. The two big ticket items were the Enzo Ferrari, customized to FXX spec, and a Maserati MC12 (one of 50! Holy Crap!). There were also custom Ferrari F430s, custom Lamborghini Gallardos, a collection of older lambo's including some diablos and a countach, various Lotus', a Skyline GTR...the list goes on. I did my best not to walk around with a boner especially when the MC12 started revving, as it hit it's rev limiter and went back to idle faster than I could blink. Here are some of my favourite photos from the event. C&C Welcome

Lots of good closeups there.
Nicely done.
Particularly like #2's clean and sharp look (not just because it's a Ferrari).
Well done.

Looks like clear skies, but the cars are covered with water. Was that nature or just for effect?

Wow great pictures black magic. I am a noob at shooting cars myself and I would like to learn some techniques that you do! First off what lens did you use for these shots? Did you use any filter? if so which kinds? And how do you get the pictures to be so crisp? I see that your pp'ing technique gave it a bit of a dark classy feel to it, something you would find in a supercar magazine. How'd you manage to do this?

Great car shots - normally I would like to see some of the whole cars as well, but you have them all looking so sharp with a great 'metallic' kinda feel. Suits the cars perfectly.

Love the metallics and the Honda (:O) the most, in terms of photos. Thanks for posting... I want a new car!

Thanks for the comments everyone. Dragonfly: After being there for about half an hour, it started raining, so the water on the cars is all nature. LeDave: I used the 50-135, and 18-55 WR, mostly because I had to due to the rain, with UV filters on the front of each. I would have liked to use my fisheye, but Mother Nature wasn't cooperating. PP'ing consisted of boosting contrast and some saturation, and dodging and burning some distractions in the backround, all in PS CS4. Goddo13: I agree with you, I would have loved to get some shots of the cars in full, but I was trying to avoid the whole, "These cars are at a car show" look, with people walking all around the cars, and there were thick, and high velvet ropes around all the cars. And yes, this show made me want to push my car off a cliff too!

I like these kinds of close shots of isolated auto details. You've done quite well with these.
