Formula One Exhibition
Posted By: FruitLooPs, 10-01-2009, 05:31 PM

The National Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa recently had a feature gallery on the history and cars of formula one.

I was in Wellington for work, so decided to pop in and take a few snaps. Unfortunately no flash photography was allowed, and the room was dim and unevenly lit with spotlights. Added to that I only had the 18-55mm kit lens on the K20D that was usefully wide enough my manual 50mm although much faster @ F1.4 was useless in the confined spaces.

Still I got what I could from it. Hope you enjoy

Nice lighting on the fancy sportcars.
That steering wheel looks like a joystick for computer game.

Great series of wonderfully composed and exposed shots in a car museum - something that's much harder than it looks. Great job.

Nice images. I would love to see that exhibition. Isn't it crazy how many Horsepower they "tickled" out of 1.5l?

very coo, dont see so old f1 cars that often. and those markings on that steering wheel were very intuitive "A", "B", "C" etc. must be a nightmare to read the instructions. if you want to do this, then first switch B on then assure D is off and then turn F and A on in that order.

Very cool exhibition you've been at my friend.

With the F1 GP coming back next year, I wish we'd have those here in Montréal. But until then, those pictures are really eye candy. Even with the dim lightning the results came out pretty well.

Great series and great work getting these shots especially with the kit lens in that kind of lighting.

I would love to spend a few hours in that exhibit, I wonder if it'll be coming to Australia?
