Model Shootout
Posted By: alohadave, 10-02-2009, 09:48 AM

I attended a model shootout through meetup.com on Wednesday. We had 7 models, and 20 photogs in attendance.

Click through to see the rest.

How come the 11th shot, or 3rd from the bottom, has so much better lighting than the rest? Lots of the others could have used more/stronger lights. If I have low light levels/sources, I like to go B&W for portraits, as they tend to look better than low lit color portraits.

Did someone offer the use of an indoor location?

Varying lighting used here. Some worked better than others.

1, 4, 5 and 12 came out best IMO, although the background needed some separation from the subject in some of these.

Some poses also looked somewhat rigid/robotic, but I suppose it's hard for models to look natural all the time in front of so many photogs.

Thanks for sharing Dave.

We had two lighting setups, 1 high key, 1 low key. We also had a couple hot lights and table lamps we used.

The black background had a softbox and a hair light. The white background had a softbox and Octadome, with a light on the background.
