Flying low

I was shooting some gulls and saw something behind me, whipped around and grabbed this guy cruising just above the sand.

The gulls turned out ok.

I love these pictures. I see these characters every time I go sailing, but not with the clarity or detail these images provide.

The Pelican looks to be a rare shot. Wing scraping the sand takes it from nice to fantastic.

That Pelican casually dragging a wingtip is the most surprising and awesome bird in flight shot I think I've ever seen! What a cocky flier!

nice shots.
The first one is briliant IMO but I'd maybe increase the exposure by a margin...

I agree. It seems a tad bit dark but I really like it anyways!

That really is an amazing BIF shot! Well done on getting that moment.

I like the gulls too, very sharp and I like the DoF.

Thanks guys. The exposure was actually WAY off on the pelican so didn't want to push it too far; I always shoot in manual mode and was working on the gulls and some other birds when I saw something moving fast behind me and turned around to grab this shot. Unfortunately the light was a bit lower where he was and I had to push it around 1.5 stops in post.

Can try and bump it a bit more and see how it holds up.... thanks again for the comments!

Amazing pelican shot! Great reflexes and awareness by you to grab it!

The gull is cute - looks kinda shy.

Amazing shot - he must have been taking advantage of ground-effect at that altitude...
