Saturday Hike Among the Aspens
Posted By: deadwolfbones, 10-07-2009, 11:13 AM

Went out last Saturday for a quick afternoon hike on a cross-country skiing trail in the mountains here. The aspens that high up have already lost much of their color/leaves, but it was still a gorgeous day to be out. Took along much of my kit, but mainly used the DA 70 Ltd., the Tamron 90 Macro, the DA 21 Ltd., and the Helios-44K-4.

The streaky lighting created in the backlit shots is well captured.
Thanks for sharing these, nicely done.

I always end up taking dozens of "path" shots and never get more than 1-2 keepers. Seems like what's so charming in person is never quite as much in photos. But yeah, I liked that one.

Yep, that's the typical Helios bokeh. Mine barely ever leaves f/2.

Thanks!

Wow - what a delightful series. The whole group of shots made me smile. Seriously (and not so seriously) good stuff.

#3 is my favorite! Always trying to get a shot like that but it's harder than it looks!

Looks like #3 is the winner of this round. I usually take these threads as sort of a dry run to figure out what to submit to PPG, so it's nice when there's consensus. Then again, it's nice when everyone likes something different too.

Thanks to all of you!

Great set, I enjoy how you have captured the light in these.
Last one is also my favourite, probably my favourite image I have seen online for a while
