My wife and my 10 day old son...

No post processing - just straight out of the camera as jpg. I'm way too tired to edit images these days

These are wonderfully done - almost 3-dimensional.

Congrats on the little one.

Pretty good result.
And congrats on the baby.
First 3 are good - first one perhaps could have done with the flash less zoomed narrow covering just her face as there is some important detail lost in the shadows.
Last one looks front-filled and as a result has flattened texture, but all still work OK.
Well done and enjoy fatherhood!

Nice photos and congrats
I like the exposure with the fill flash.. Also really like how (IMO) the background is interesting yet doesn't detract from the subject.

I see no need for post processing here. They're all great, but I especially like the colors in your second shot. And the sky in your third shot is just amazing. Congrats on your son as well.

They're all nice shots. Love the use of a low angle. Congrats on the new addition friend. Seems this year the forum has had quite a few. Mine is 5 months today.

Congratulations on the baby, Chris. My favourite picture from this series is #2. Up close and personal.

The lighting and clouds of the third image really create a mood with the subjects.

And now say goodbye to sleeping well for the next 7 months.

Thanks everyone. We are very proud parents right now!!

The sky was so cool that night so we decided to make it his first trip to the beach. I also just got the new pocket wizard tt5's and I wanted to test them on both the Canon and Pentax gear. Its a very nice little system

Wow! Those are beautiful! Can I just ask how you got them to have so much contrast with no post processing? It seems anytime I want that look I have to do some editing.

It was mostly the result of great natural light. I exposed a very dark scene for the environment which created a lot of natural contrast and then I used a strong directional off camera flash to light the subjects. It just requires manual control of both the camera exposure and flash power - and then a nice evening sky like this. We don't get this kind of sky very often in San Diego so it was fun to take advantage of it.
