Looking through some street photography books lately made me keen to get out in the rain, to use the differences in light and peoples behaviour.
Although I have tried some street photography in the rain, I avoided going out for landscape-type shots when it was wet, as I figured the light was too boring for that type of photography. But I went out last week for a few days and got some good minimalist compositions, using rain storms and/or bland skies for black and white landscapes.
The shots here are all with a Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6. I would love to use a weather-sealed lens, like the 16-50, but can't afford it at the moment. I figure that if I fry the kit lens in the rain it's no big deal, as long as my K10D doesn't get damaged as well.
Anyway, here are 5 street shots from this morning, and one landscape from last week. I think it's good to get out in all kinds of light and weather to see if you can use it to your advantage.
