Posted By: YJD, 10-20-2009, 10:36 AM

Those shoes are the one my daughter. We have been looking for them for a long time until we found then at the back of the yard.

Which one do you thing it better? They have the them aspect, just the angle is different.

1.

2.

#2 is very nice!
the signature in the corner is brighter than the subject and i find it distracting.

Thanks!
I preferred the first one have I've taken the 2 shots but after a while I preferred number 2.

I do the signature in a batch file and I don't look after I do it. Thanks for that comment, I need to add more transparency on it.

Taff, I wasn't expecting your answer!
But I prefer honest answers than a lie, so thank you.
Could you tell me why you don't like any of them? Is it the style you don't like or something I need to improve.

#2 for sure- great use of negative space. I'd give it 5/5, as it sure look like a nice piece of artwork to me

#1 was a good try, but I think the fact that everything is centered makes the photo seem a bit busy, and you don't really get to rest your eyes on any particular focal point.

I like #2 for sure better. The only thing is, why is the lighter area in the center of the pic instead of on the shoes? Seems like it's higlighting the grass. Also, it looks like there was a lot of burning done around the shoes. How did the ground look there? Not good? But my opion is overall #2 is nice.

Out of the two, #2 is best but you could have cropped a bit tighter on the birdbath (or whatever it is). The top is nicely cropped, if you cropped from the right a little more (and straightened it a little) it would have much better balance.

Thank you for all your comments.
I tried to follow you advice and did this:

The ground didn't look that great, but here it is, let me know what you think!

Here's what I was getting at, sorry I cropped your watermark in half. I also had to crop it square to better demonstrate.
The main subject is the shoes, the other object is just props. Because there was so much of it, it was overpowering the shoes.
I ended up not straightening it at all because the crop change the perspective enough.

Your updated #2 is great.
Gary's suggestion works well, although I'd have kept a little more of the right side of the frame so as not to shove the subject right into the corner of the image.

Thanks Gary, I see more what you need, but I like the empty spot om the left and like to get a bit more on the right... but I guess that comes to preference.
I appreciate the advise to help improve the picture.
