So last week this guy was in the yard at 5:30am.

Waking from a nice sleep I grabbed the only lens on the camera and shot. NOt great but you get the jist.

Got home today at 5:00pm and the kids screamed this guy was in the yard.

he was a little more photo friendly.

Pat,

Well, last week we had the same thing happen with a bear in our backyard. He trashed the wrought iron bird feeders and then stalked into the woods.

Now, the snapping turtles are traveling farther from water to lay their eggs. They can snap off fingers or chunks of flesh...so... don't let anyone get too close them.
This particular one looks like she's pretty big.

Thanks for the images.

Man. Surprised that snapping turtle didn't try and bite the end of you lens off. I've never been able to get closer than a few feet to one that big without him threating to snap me in half!

Edit: Oops, too slow. Is there an echo in here?

Stephen , man same thing with the bear in my yard. Took off a section of the wrought Iron feeder as well.

Vertex, I did get to see how fast he could move that head. There were a bunch of mosqitoes flying around and he snapped a couple right out of the sky. I think this one was just not in any rush to move along.

Thanks for the comments.
