Fall Farewell
Posted By: Marc Langille, 10-21-2009, 08:06 PM

Just one image of a Pink Cosmos - taken last weekend since I was not sure if/when the frosts might come.

I should mention that I am quite pleased how sharp it turned out, given it's low shutter speed of 1/30 sec. with a 200mm macro lens. It was in windy conditions - just had to wait for that perfect moment when there was a lull in the wind conditions...

The Cosmos has always been a favorite flower of mine, because of it's beauty, color, symmetry and the subjects it attracts.

Marc

Marc, beautiful photo. You have a fantastic collection and I look forward to your posts.
Thank you Dan. I'm a person that often sees something, but may take my time with the shot I wanted. I ended up waiting two days until this Cosmos filled out and I knew colder nights were on way and this was the least windy day I had with even lighting.

I could have used a macro plamp and steadied the subject for the shot, yet I am the kind of person that prefers the subject being as natural as possible (even though you wouldn't see the plamp hold the stem steady).

Sweet capture Marc.
Love the smoothness and detail.
Thanks for sharing.
Hi Ash, thanks for looking! This flower has always been one of my favorite subjects as indicated above. However, everything is so subtle - even the yellows. That makes it so easy to capture the rich colors in overcast conditions.

Unfortunately that Cosmos is a tad worse for the wear this weekend...

Regards,
Marc

Beautiful image Marc! The DOF and color saturation are spot on. So did you take this from a mile away with the new 250-600mm?

Mike
Thanks Mike and I'll try that suggestion next time = could be interesting!

Cheers,
Marc
